As a fast growing Surface Transportation Infrastructure Engineering Company, SIMCO Engineering, P.C. is seeking for a highly motivated civil engineer to design and review Highway Engineering related infrastructure projects under the supervision of the Director of Design. This position has great opportunity for future advancement and growth within the company.

The candidate will be responsible for field investigation, conceptual design, preliminary cost estimate, final design, preparation of special specifications and engineer’s estimates for urban and rural roadways, pedestrian bridges and ramp structures including other elements such as sidewalks, drainage structures, lighting, utilities, sign structures and landscape development etc.

The individual should have knowledge of AASHTO (Geometric Design of Highways and Streets), ACI and AISC codes and since most of the work is in the NYC area, familiarity with NYCDOT, NYDDC, NYCDEP, NYSDOT, PANYNJ, MTA, and other regional agency specifications, standards and guidelines would be preferable.

The candidate should have working knowledge of programs such as: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Micro Station V8, Inroads, AutoTurn, ArcGIS and Microsoft Office.

A qualified candidate should have the following:

  • 4-5 years of experience in the U.S.
  • Bachelor/Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • A Professional Engineer (P.E.) or FE license would be desirable

SIMCO has an opening for an individual with a B.S. in engineering and experience in ITS design.

The candidate will provide design for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) which includes the preparation of electrical power and communication plans, development of technical specifications, and the development of cost estimates.

Knowledge of traffic signals, adaptive traffic signals, street lighting and related technical support as may be required.

This position will be a support member of the Traffic Department.

A qualified candidate must be able to:

  • Assist in the preparation of written reports and presentations of project findings.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation

A qualified candidate must have the following:

  • Experience with ITS design.
  • Five years of experience in the U.S.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite) – must be able to develop documents in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation.

Work would consist of monitoring, inspecting, measuring, documenting and facilitating infrastructure construction projects for the NYCDDC, NYSDOT, NYCDEP, NYCHA, MTA and other public agencies.

Projects may include: highways, bridges, buildings, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc. There is an immediate need for individuals experienced in M/E/P inspections, railroad signals and communications.

The projects are in the NYC metropolitan area and experience with city, state and regional agencies is highly desirable.

A qualified candidate should have the following:

  • NYS PE (for Resident Engineer)
  • NICET Certification, AAS, BS or equivalent

Candidates will have experience in NY metro area urban construction for one or more of the following areas:

Duties will include: Monitoring, observing, documenting and facilitating construction activities for conformance with bid documents.

Appropriate NICET certification or ASCE equivalent and experience required for Inspector through Office Engineer positions.

NY PE required for Resident Engineer positions.

SIMCO has an IMMEDIATE opening for a Chief Construction Inspector – M/E/P for a rail public works project on Staten Island, NY.

The candidate will have a minimum of ten (10) years of “hands on” construction inspection experience on multi-disciplinary railroad/transit projects. Bachelors’ degree in engineering or acceptable equivalent of training and experience is required. A PE would be a plus but may not be necessary DOQ.

The successful candidate’s hiring will be subject to interview and approval by the Client, reference/background check (including DHS) and completion of all required employment forms (I-9, W-4, etc.). A Driver’s License is a must.

Immediate need for Resident Engineer for short-term (3 months +/-) highway construction project on the NJ Turnpike (Meadowlands area). Candidate shall meet one of the following criteria:

  1. NJ licensed PE with three (3) years F/T experience as a RE for highway and bridge projects or;
  2. Ten (10) years of experience on heavy highway and bridge construction in NJ four (4) of which will have been as a F/T Resident Engineer or;
  3. NICET Level IV Construction Inspector with a minimum of three (3) years of F/T experience as an RE on heavy highway or bridge projects.

THE CANDIDATE MUST HAVE COMPLETED AND BE CURRENTLY CERTIFIED FOR THE RUTGERS UNIVERSITY LTAP TRAFFIC CONTROL COORDINATOR COURSE OR AMERICAN TRAFFIC SAFETY SERVICES ASSOCIATION (ATSSA) CERTIFICATION FOR MAINTENANCE AND PROTECTION OF TRAFFIC.
