SIMCO Engineering, D.P.C., as a subconsultant, provided biennial and interim bridge inspection for 318 Spans of 62 Bridges in 2017 and 367 Spans of 81 Bridges in 2018 in Bronx County, including:
- Cross Bronx Expressway over Major Deegan Expressway
- Bronx River Parkway over Morris Ave.
- E Gun Hill Road over Bronx Boulevard
- Beach Avenue Pedestrian Bridge
- E 241 Street at Bronx River Parkway
- Whitestone Interchange at Bruckner Expressway
SIMCO provided the following services:
- Structural inspection for fracture in critical/non-redundant members and fatigue prone details of various types of steel bridges
- Safety inspection for bridge under-deck concrete and top of the bridge sidewalk, bridge railing, and approaches for pedestrians and vehicular traffic
The inspection was performed per NYSDOT inspection guidelines. Verified bridge plans and cross-sections and checked load rating calculations and reviewed VIRTIS results to evaluate load-bearing capacity of members. Prepared detailed Engineering Reports in BDIS and made necessary corrections in bridge inventory by using WINBOLTS
